“Films Reflect Society”: UP Congress President Ajay Rai Watches Phule, Calls It a Must-Watch for Every Indian

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee President and former minister Ajay Rai, along with several senior Congress leaders, attended a special screening of the film Phule, based on the inspiring lives of Jyotiba Phule and Savitri Bai Phule — two of the 19th century’s greatest social reformers.

Speaking after the screening, Ajay Rai described the movie as “a mirror to society”, saying that such films not only educate viewers about the life and struggles of great reformers but also guide society towards a more just and equitable direction.

“The life of the Phule couple is an example for us all. Their fight for social justice, women’s education, and dignity for the oppressed continues to inspire,” Rai said. “This film brings the stark realities of that era to life and revives a sense of social awakening.”

Rai emphasized that every Indian must watch Phule to understand the magnitude of the couple’s contribution to society. “Their work in challenging caste discrimination, advocating for Dalit and backward communities, and promoting women’s education was revolutionary,” he added.

Accompanying Ajay Rai at the screening were several prominent Congress leaders, including former minister Raj Bahadur, former MLA Indal Rawat, Dr. Jiyaram Verma, Sushil Tiwari Sonu Pandit, Anusuya Sharma, Arshad Azmi, Pushpendra Singh, Siddhishri, Parveen Khan, Neelam Singh, Sabra Khatoon, Shifa Khan, Rakesh Pandey, Anil Shukla, and Mohd.
